CHERYL MARIA
the velvet edge
Cheryl Maria is a Nashville-based artist and songwriter known for emotionally honest songs, soulful vocals, and a live presence that feels intimate, grounded, and universal.
When Cheryl moved to the U.S. in 2021, continuing a music career was not part of the plan. After spending ten years in a band built around promises of purpose and recognition that were never truly aligned, she stepped away emotionally; unsure where she fit in a music world that often seemed driven by image and fame rather than connection and truth.
Her return to songwriting came quietly, through an online course with the Songwriting Academy, whose ties to Nashville introduced her to a creative culture centered on craft, collaboration, and authenticity. For the first time in years, Cheryl felt she had found a community that “got it.” After several years performing internationally on cruise ships and navigating major personal changes, she made the intentional decision to move to Nashville, not to chase trends, but to surround herself with writers and artists who value storytelling, depth, and long-term artistic growth.
Cheryl’s choice of genre is equally intentional. Her music lives where emotional nuance meets clarity and accessibility. Like her own journey, her sound is versatile, layered, and heartfelt, while remaining direct and relatable. Her songs are built to connect, offering emotional depth without complication.
Often compared to Sheryl Crow for her acoustic-driven songwriting and warm, grounded delivery, and to LP for her raw emotional power and fiercely authentic presence, Cheryl Maria creates pop music that prioritizes feeling over flash; songs designed to be lived with, not just listened to.
“Singer/guitarist Cheryl was a highlight of the trip. What an incredible voice, along with original arrangements. Fabulous!”
